Korissa’s story began in 2017, when Angela, a passionate interior designer and social entrepreneur, traveled from New York to Bangladesh. During her time there, she connected with a remarkable female social entrepreneur working within a non-governmental organization (NGO) and the World Fair Trade organization. This organization is dedicated to alleviating poverty, promoting social responsibility through fair trade, and empowering women who have experienced gender violence in Dhaka.

Inspired by their commitment, Angela and her partner Nora founded Korissa with the vision of offering environmentally and socially responsible handmade goods. Their goal? To encourage modern consumers to make conscious purchasing decisions that support ethical sourcing, fair wages, and sustainable living.

Today, Korissa partners with four artisan organizations in Bangladesh that operate under strict fair trade principles. These collaborations help preserve traditional crafts and cultural heritage, while also providing artisans with fair wages, access to broader markets, and sustainable livelihoods.
